Jammu: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday announced that the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra will be conducted from July 3 to August 28, 2026.
The pilgrimage will coincide with the festival of Raksha Bandhan on its concluding day. This year, the Yatra will span 57 days, offering devotees sufficient time to undertake the sacred journey.
The Yatra will formally commence with the Pratham Puja on June 29, observed on the occasion of Jyeshtha Purnima, marking the traditional beginning of the pilgrimage.
Devotees will perform yatra to the holy Amarnath Cave, situated in the Himalayas, where the naturally formed ice Shivling is worshipped as a manifestation of Lord Shiva.
The administration has announced that advance registration for the Yatra will begin on April 15, 2026. Pilgrims can register through both online and offline modes. For offline registration, 554 designated branches of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, and Yes Bank across the country have been authorized.
Authorities emphasized the need for early registration and strict adherence to official guidelines to ensure smooth conduct of the pilgrimage. Given the challenging terrain, high altitude, and unpredictable weather conditions, elaborate arrangements are being made for security, medical facilities, transportation, and accommodation.
Pilgrims have been advised to undergo mandatory health check-ups and prepare adequately for the physically demanding journey to ensure a safe and spiritually fulfilling experience.
