PM Modi’s Roadshow Draws Massive Crowds In Thiruvananthapuram
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a roadshow in Thiruvananthapuram as part of the BJP-led NDA’s campaign for the upcoming Kerala Legislative Assembly elections.
The roadshow witnessed large participation, with supporters lining the streets to greet the Prime Minister. In a series of posts on X, PM Modi thanked the people of the city for their enthusiastic response and expressed confidence in growing support for the BJP-NDA alliance across the state.
“Thank you Thiruvananthapuram! The roadshow this evening was very special… People across the state are seeing BJP-NDA as the only team which can fulfil their aspirations,” he said.
Highlighting the alliance’s development vision, the Prime Minister emphasised the goal of building a “Vikasita Thiruvananthapuram” as part of a broader vision for a developed Kerala. He underscored the importance of improving connectivity, citing the introduction of train services such as Amrit Bharat Express and the Vande Bharat Express connecting Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod.
PM Modi also referred to key infrastructure projects, including the Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport, which he said would strengthen Kerala’s position on the global maritime map. He noted that ongoing road and highway developments in and around the city are transforming connectivity and improving daily life for residents.
Focusing on future growth, the Prime Minister said efforts are underway to develop Thiruvananthapuram as a hub for innovation, research, and startups. He highlighted plans for a modern CSIR-NIIST Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship Hub and recalled the inauguration of key projects at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, which have contributed to India’s space programme.
Targeting opposition parties, PM Modi said that both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Front (UDF) have neglected the city’s infrastructure over the years. He asserted that the BJP-NDA would prioritise local issues and work towards improving both physical and social infrastructure.
Earlier in the day, addressing a rally in Thiruvalla, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the BJP-NDA would form the government in Kerala, asserting that “winds of change” were visible across the state. He also highlighted increased central funding and growing grassroots support for the alliance.
BJP, which won its first Assembly seat in Nemom in 2016, is aiming to build on its recent electoral gains and improve its performance in the 140-member Assembly.
Kerala is set to go to the polls on April 9, with results to be announced on May 4, alongside other states including Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry.
