PM Modi Lauds India’s T20 World Cup Triumph, Hails J&K’s Historic Ranji Trophy Victory

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised India’s recent cricketing successes and highlighted the growing sports culture in Jammu and Kashmir during the 132nd edition of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat.
Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister said the past month has been filled with excitement for cricket enthusiasts, especially following India’s historic win at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. He noted that the victory sparked celebrations across the country and filled citizens with pride.
PM Modi also drew attention to a landmark achievement in domestic cricket, as the Jammu and Kashmir team clinched their maiden Ranji Trophy title after nearly seven decades. The Prime Minister described the triumph as a result of years of dedication and perseverance by the players.
He commended team captain Paras Dogra for his leadership and contribution to the victory, and highlighted the outstanding performance of young bowler Aaqib Nabi, who took 60 wickets during the tournament.
The Prime Minister said the achievement has generated immense enthusiasm among players, coaching staff, and the people of Jammu and Kashmir, adding that it would inspire more youth in the region to take up sports.
Emphasising the region’s sporting potential, PM Modi noted that Jammu and Kashmir is emerging as a hub for major sporting events, with Khelo India Winter Games in Gulmarg gaining prominence. He also mentioned the popularity of sports like football among local youth.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that the success of Jammu and Kashmir’s athletes would continue, further strengthening the culture of sports and encouraging young talent across the region.
