Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired a high-level meeting to review the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) and AMRUT 2.0 across Jammu and Kashmir.
He emphasized the need for scientific waste disposal, optimization of sewerage treatment infrastructure, and time-bound completion of projects. Stressing a mission-mode approach, he called for robust O&M plans for community toilets and adherence to NGT norms to prevent pollution of water bodies. The meeting also reviewed progress in setting up Material Recovery Facilities, CBG and compost plants, and the bioremediation of legacy waste. Under AMRUT 2.0, projects worth ₹1002 crore, including ₹867 crore in Central assistance, are being implemented to enhance drinking water, sewerage, and water body rejuvenation infrastructure.
