Jammu : In preparation for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025, a high-level security and coordination review was conducted today under the leadership of DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS. The review covered critical points across Lakhanpur Yatra Reception Centre, Rajbagh, Dayala Chak, Hiranagar, Ghagwal, Nonath, Chichi Mata, Samba, Vijaypur, Bari Brahmana, Kaluchak, Gangyal, and Satwari Chowk, encompassing the entire JSK Range — key transit areas for the annual pilgrimage.
Comprehensive Field Review and Stakeholder Engagement:
DIG Sharma personally visited key Lodgement Centres and Langar Sites across the districts of Jammu, Samba, and Kathua. His inspection emphasized the need for a synchronized approach among all security and administrative stakeholders, ensuring a seamless and secure pilgrimage experience for the lakhs of devotees expected to undertake the sacred journey.
During his on-ground visits, DIG Sharma underlined the importance of meticulous advance planning, particularly in the current security climate, with instructions to counter any potential threats proactively and decisively.
Key Directives and Focus Areas:
DIG Sharma issued several pivotal directives to the attending officers, SHOs, and representatives from Police, Army, and other central security agencies:
1. Enhanced Security at Base Camps and Lodgement Centres
Officers were instructed to place special focus on Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp in Jammu, all identified lodgement centres, and langar (community kitchen) sites along the Yatra route. Surveillance and security at these critical locations are to be intensified with 24×7 monitoring.
2. Implementation of Operation Third Eye
Officers were exhorted to implement “Operation Third Eye”, a surveillance and vigilance initiative involving enhanced CCTV coverage, drone patrolling, and coordination with intelligence inputs to ensure foolproof security for the pilgrims.
3. Strengthening of Naka Points and Night Patrolling
DIG Sharma directed for the strengthening of all check-posts (nakas), particularly in border areas and urban choke points, with special emphasis on night hours and early morning patrols. He further instructed that new naka points should be established in vulnerable locations as per intelligence feedback.
4. Mock Drills and Real-Time Response Mechanisms :Officers were instructed to conduct regular security reviews, simulations, and mock drills to test and ensure operational readiness. They were also advised to enforce strict checking of vehicles, especially during odd hours, and keep a close watch on vendors or any suspicious individuals.
5. Coordination with Central and Defence Agencies :Emphasizing an intelligence-led approach, DIG Sharma urged for close liaison with Army, Paramilitary Forces, and Central Intelligence Agencies. He directed that real-time intelligence sharing and joint naka deployments should be prioritized to ensure rapid response to emerging threats.
6. Unified Presence Across Jurisdictions
The security review was attended by all concerned officers from the JSK Range, reaffirming the integrated command structure and commitment to ensuring the safe and smooth conduct of the Yatra.

DIG Sharma reiterated that the safety of Yatris is non-negotiable, and every stakeholder must function in close coordination to uphold the sanctity and security of the pilgrimage. He acknowledged the efforts of all personnel involved and stressed zero tolerance for lapses in vigilance.
As the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025 approaches, the JSK Range Police under the command of DIG Sharma is leaving no stone unturned in establishing a robust security framework to safeguard the spiritual journey of the pilgrims.
