Strict Action Against Traffic Violators: RTO Jammu and Traffic Police Conduct Major Enforcement Drive
Multiple Areas Targeted as Authorities Crack Down on Traffic Violations in Jammu

Jammu : In a decisive move to strengthen road safety and enforce traffic regulations, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) Jammu, in collaboration with the Traffic Police, carried out a large-scale enforcement drive across Wave Mall, Malik Market, Narwal, and Bhitindi.
The operation was conducted on the directions of Transport Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan (JKAS) and under the supervision of RTO Jammu Jasmeet Singh (JKAS) and ADC Jammu Ansuya Jamwal (JKAS). The drive aimed at identifying and penalizing violations under the Motor Vehicles Act, ensuring that vehicle owners and drivers adhere to traffic norms.
Major Actions Taken During the Drive:
• 350 vehicles were checked for violations.
• 72 e-challans were issued, resulting in fines totaling ₹2,15,500.
• 8 vehicles were seized for non-compliance with motor vehicle regulations.
• Traffic Police separately issued 10 challans and seized one vehicle for serious violations.
Public Awareness and Compliance Measures:
Beyond enforcement, the drive also focused on educating transport operators about road safety. Representatives from the Auto Load Carriers and Mini Bus Union were briefed on the necessity of adhering to traffic rules, ensuring safer and more disciplined road transport. Authorities emphasized the need for public cooperation in reducing traffic congestion and accidents.

A strong team of officials from both RTO Jammu and Traffic Police played a crucial role in the drive. Key members included:

Regular Enforcement Drives to Continue:
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring road safety through sustained enforcement drives. Officials warned that violations such as overloading, reckless driving, and failure to comply with vehicle documentation requirements will result in strict penalties, including vehicle seizures.
The general public has been urged to follow traffic rules, cooperate with enforcement agencies, and contribute to making Jammu’s roads safer and more organized.
