DC Leh Santosh Sukhdeve chaired a meeting of District TB Forum to review the progress under PM TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Leh, December 28, 2024: The Deputy Commissioner Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, chaired a meeting of the District Tuberculosis (TB) Forum at the DC Office Leh’s Video Conference Room on December 28 to discuss the community engagement interventions and community led TB response in Leh district.
During the meeting, the Office of District Tuberculosis Leh presented a comprehensive overview, covering key areas such as the TB Forum’s role and responsibilities in eradicating TB, the current TB situation in Leh district, the “TB Harega Desh Jeetega” Campaign, the crucial role of TB champions and family members of TB patients within the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), the effectiveness of contact tracing and TPT treatment, the district-level performance of the Nikshay Poshan Yojna, the progress of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat initiative, active case finding and awareness programs, the TB Mukt Panchayat program, and other relevant matters.
Expressing concern over the persistent number of TB cases, DC Leh emphasized that the established criteria for achieving a TB-free India were not being met. He also sought information on TB-related fatalities, requesting a detailed audit report on this critical issue. Furthermore, recognizing the importance of adequate nutrition support, he expressed concern over the funding allocated for food baskets and committed for allocation of additional financial resources. He also emphasizes on Zero TB related Deaths, effective IEC and community led response for achieving TB Mukt Ladakh.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Leh, Ghulam Mohd, Chief Medical Officer, District Tuberculosis Officer, and other key officials from various departments.
