DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma Conducts Winter Preparedness and Security Review Meeting in Billawar, District Kathua

KATHUA :The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for the Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, chaired a comprehensive winter preparedness and security review meeting in Billawar, District Kathua. The meeting aimed to assess operational readiness and bolster security measures in the region. Key attendees included SSP Kathua Shobit Saxena, IPS, SP Operations Aumer Iqbal, Dy.SP Operations Malhar Sukhvir Singh, SDPO Billawar Shavinder Singh, and officers from various police units and sister agencies, including the CRPF.
Focus on Robust Security Measures:
DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma highlighted the importance of a robust security framework to counter threats posed by Over Ground Workers (OGWs), Anti-National Elements (ANEs), and Anti-Social Elements (ASEs). He stressed proactive measures to dismantle terrorist support networks, particularly in vulnerable areas like Malhar, Machedi, and Badnota.
Community Engagement and Awareness:
The DIG urged officers to engage with the local population and launch awareness campaigns to encourage the public to report suspicious activities. He assured full cooperation and support from the Jammu and Kashmir Police to safeguard the community.
Operational Directives:
– Nakas and Surveillance: Officers were directed to fortify checkpoints, particularly during nighttime and early morning hours. Strengthening nakas and maintaining vigilance were deemed critical.
-CCTV Surveillance:Instructions were issued for the installation of CCTV cameras at vital locations, including Ujh Bridge, Varun Devta Bridge, and Ludhar Bridge. These measures aim to monitor miscreant activities effectively and ensure thorough record-keeping.
-Coordination with Security Agencies:DIG Sharma emphasized maintaining seamless coordination among all security agencies. He stressed the importance of joint efforts, routine nakas, and synchronized operations for enhanced efficiency at the grassroots level.
Infiltration and Counter-Terrorism Efforts:
The meeting also focused on securing infiltration-prone areas, particularly the Ujh River and nearby nullahs. DIG Sharma directed officers to plug all loopholes and conduct regular Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) to eliminate threats. The goal is to establish a robust security grid capable of addressing potential challenges and ensuring peace in the region.
