Kathua : In preparation for the forthcoming Commemoration Day celebrations and upcoming festivals, Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG of JSK Range, conducted an official visit to District Kathua. His visit focused on assessing security preparedness, particularly in border areas and police posts, with an emphasis on identifying gaps and reinforcing measures.
Border Area Inspection:
The DIG reviewed the security arrangements along the border and the National Highway (NHW), emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance. He assessed the effectiveness of police posts in monitoring potential threats and identified areas requiring reinforcement.
Instructions for Security Strengthening:
During his inspection, Sharma issued on-the-spot directives to strengthen Border Police Posts (BPPs) and other key security infrastructure. He also evaluated resource requirements to bolster the preparedness of personnel stationed at sensitive locations.
Security Review Meeting at DPL Kathua:
In a detailed meeting with officers at the District Police Line (DPL) Kathua, the DIG reviewed surveillance strategies targeting various threats, including:
Drug peddlers
Bovine smugglers
Repeat offenders and OGWs (Over Ground Workers)
Released and surrendered terrorists
He urged officers to remain proactive in addressing these risks, especially during the festival season, which may present unique security challenges.
