Five-day training on SHWP under Ayushman Bharat held from 7- 11 October 2024 at DIET Leh
Leh, October 12, 2024: Five-day training on the School Health & Wellness Program (SHWP) under Ayushman Bharat, held from 7th October 2024 to 11th October 2024, at DIET Leh, and concluded successfully on October 11. The program aimed to train 47 newly appointed ambassadors of various schools about various modules of SHWP.
The training began with one day orientation to the 35 heads of middle, high & higher secondary school of Leh who did not received training earlier along with the ambassadors. Dr. Iqbal, the state nodal officer for SHWP UT Ladakh, provided a comprehensive overview of programme and addressed the anaemia, and the importance of IFA tablets on first day morning session. Dr. Samina Batool from SNM Hospital presented her presentation on mental health and how to manage challenging emotions in the afternoon session. Dr. Savita, a gynaecologist from PHC Chuchot, discussed reproductive health and HIV prevention next day.
Resource persons from DIET Leh and Health Department conducted various engaging activities, including lectures, role plays, and presentations, to cover different modules. On the final day, ambassadors visited Ladakh Public School (LPS) to share their experiences with students. They performed a skit on safe use of internet gadgets and introduced the ‘SHWP Question Box,’ allowing students to anonymously submit questions related to their health and study. The teachers and medical staffs addressed some of the important questions raised by the students.
The training concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony led by Dr. Farana, District Immunization Officer Leh, and Smt. Deldan Angmo, Principal DIET Leh. They congratulated the ambassadors for the successful completion of training and emphasized the importance of effectively implementation of the program in schools, particularly given the unique challenges faced by adolescents in Leh district.
