4 Notorious Drug Peddlers Arrested in Nagrota; Cash and 265 gm Heroin Recovered

Jammu : In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu police arrested four suspected drug peddlers and seized 265 grams of a heroin-like substance along with ₹4.05 lakh in cash. The arrests were made by the Nagrota Police near the TCP Bypass area, following a tip-off from a reliable source.
The Arrest Operation:Acting on specific information, the police team from Nagrota Police Station, under the supervision of senior officials, rushed to the location where the suspects were reportedly selling drugs. The accused were operating from a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JK02DK/9844.
The five suspects identified in the case are:
1. Shabir Choudhary
2. Shakeel Ahmed
3. Farooq Choudhary
4. Arif Choudhary
(All residents of Sitni Bypass, Nagrota, and sons of Shah Mansha)
5.Waseem Akram, resident of Dharam Kund, Ramban.
While the police successfully apprehended four of the suspects, Arif Choudhary managed to escape from the scene upon seeing the police team. The vehicle was searched, leading to the recovery of 265 grams of heroin and ₹4.05 lakh in cash concealed inside the dashboard of the car.
Legal Action and Investigation:
A case has been registered under FIR No. 283/2024 at Nagrota Police Station under multiple sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act**, including:
Section 8: Prohibition of certain activities involving narcotic drugs
Section 21: Punishment for possession of manufactured drugs
Section 22 : Punishment for possession of psychotropic substances
Section 25: Liability of the owner of the vehicle used for drug trafficking
Section 29: Abetment and criminal conspiracy
The investigation is ongoing to identify both the forward and backward linkagesof the drug network. Police are pursuing leads to locate the absconding suspect,Arif Choudhary, and uncover any larger smuggling syndicates connected to the case.
