Eyewitnesses describe a scene of chaos and fear as muddy waters swept through Chashoti village, the very gateway to the Machail Mata Yatra, engulfing homes and scattering people in moments. “Bodies are still being recovered and there are fears the death toll could climb further,” cautioned an official from the police control room, highlighting the scale of devastation gripping the valley. Amid rising panic, the Army joined forces with first responders, braving perilous conditions to rescue stranded villagers.
